Take a leisurely stroll with your dog into the quaint shops of MainStreet Libertyville, or see and feel the exhilaration of the nationally recognized sport of “DockDogs-Big Air Dog Jumping”.  During Libertyville’s Dog Days of Summer, you will have a chance to experience both.  Libertyville is honored again to be the Host City for DockDogs - Road to the National Championship 2012.

MainStreet Merchant’s are dog friendly all year long, however for this weekend they are especially dog friendly hosting doggy related events. Examples included: Studio West’s PhoDoggRuffy contest, Trattoria Pomigliano’s owner/pet look-a-like contest, Serendipity's Fashion Show, how impressive! Pet Parade, Forest Bootery's Hush Puppy character, Touche’Salon’s paw-nail painting and doggy do’s, and your dog could cool off with beef flavored snow-cones.  Also available is dog friendly dining in the Park or on the patios of Egg Harbor Café, Mickey Finns, and 545 North Bar & Grill.

 Cook Park located in the heart of Downtown Libertyville has educational and family oriented activities throughout the weekend.   The Lake County Sheriff’s K-9’s demonstrated how they capture and hold a suspect.  Valuable training and behavior modification tips from top dog trainers are available. Then come's the Family/Dog Participation Games such as Musical (Chairs) Sits, Stupid Pet Tricks, and a Pet Parade.  We will also have breakfast in the park with music to accompany it.  You will have fun with all the different interactive activities going on all day long.

The Civic Center Parking Lot and Cook Park  are filled with Veterinarians, Rescue Groups, Dog Trainers, Food Vendors, Caricature Artists, dog related booths and various other vendors.  St. Lawrence Episcopal Church has a dog blessing ceremony Sunday, July 8th.  Libertyville’s Auto Dealerships displayed new and different dog friendly models for you to jump in, drive off and take a test drive with your pup. 

X-Treme Dog Park is located in the PNC Banks rear parking lot which backs up to the Civic Center parking lot.  During the exciting 4 day highlight event, you will see Speed…Explosion…Big Air and SPLASH, as dogs run down a 40’ dock and jump into a 27,000 gallon 20x40 foot pool.  The event features 150 nationally ranked top jumping DockDogs competing for prizes and rankings in the “Big Air Long Jump, the Xtreme Vertical High Jump, and the Speed Retrieve timed Jump and Swim”.  The competition is simple and exciting, the dog with the longest or highest leap off the end of the dock… The Big Air Dog, Wins!

Local Competition: Your dog can be one of ten local Newbie dogs that run down a 40’ dock and jump into a 27,000 gallon 20 x 40 foot pool.  During Libertyvlle's Dog Days of Summer, ten local dogs will compete in a local competition for prizes and the title of “Libertyville's Big Air Dog”.  The competition is simple and exciting, the dog with the longest leap off the dock...the BIG AIR DOG - WINS!

There is NO COST to enter, simply register your dog at Pampered Pup’z website for 1 of 3 ways to win.  A total of 15 dogs will win a chance to compete for the title of “Libertyville’s Big Air Dog”.  Local Competition will be held Friday, July 6th at 6 PM. Details to follow.
